Get ready for Barktoberfest, a Festival and Walk that's all about supporting Utah’s Animals in Need!

 

Barktoberfest marks the beginning of the spooky season with our community's collective effort in ensuring that HSU can continue providing critical lifesaving programs and services. Its success is a result of the thousands of caring individuals who raise funds and advocate for animals in need, making us all part of this impactful team!

The most important Halloween celebration of the year wouldn’t be the same without you!  
Barktoberfest is dog-friendly and open to all ages. Please review our Event Rules for Dogs below if you plan to bring your pup!

 

We hope you'll join us in showing your support in person by walking the 1-mile Barktoberfest route at 6 PM after enjoying the pet festival.

The Pet Festival: Open to everyone who purchases a ticket, the festival features animal-loving local businesses, food trucks, family-friendly activities, local craft beer for 21+, live music, and contests for you and your pup! Make sure you stop by the Photo Booth for a keepsake pic.

 

Costume Contests (3 PM):

Prepare your furry friend to win some pawsome prizes! Costume contest categories include:

  • Best Duo or Group: Awarded to the most dynamic pet and guardian/family group with coordinated costumes.
  • Scariest Combo: The spookiest pet and family costume ensemble.
  • Most Creative: Recognizing the family and pet with the most unique and imaginative theme.

General Event Rules:

Each (adult) ticket includes admission for one person and one dog.

  • You do not need a printed ticket. We have all pre-registered ticket information, and it will be a paperless check-in.  You will provide your name at check-in to gain entrance to the event.  Please have your ticket confirmation email ready as a backup.
  • We reserve the right to revoke admission to the event if you are unwilling to follow the rules. 
  • No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your ticket to somebody else. Please contact specialevents@utahhumane.org for help with a transfer. If you cannot attend, your ticket will be considered a donation.
  • Attendees under 18 must be accompany by an adult.


Alcohol will NOT be redeemable without a valid ID.

  • You must show your ID to get a wristband at check-in.
  • Wristbands will not be available where beer is being sold.
  • No outside food or alcohol is permitted inside the event.
  • Bags/backpacks being brought to the event may be inspected. You are welcome to bring dog treats for your dog.


Dog Rules:

  • Please use good judgment regarding your dog's temperament so that this event will be safe and enjoyable for everyone.
  • Utah Humane Society reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog whose behavior could be dangerous to others.
  • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Leashes can be up to six feet in length.
  • Retractable leashes, e-collars, shock, prongs, or choke collars will NOT be allowed for safety reasons.
  • If dogs are not wearing the appropriate leash or collar, some will be available at check-in.
  • Dogs not wearing the appropriate leash or collar will not be allowed into the event.
  • Dogs are not permitted to be left in vehicles unattended under any circumstances.
  • Participating dogs must be currently licensed with proof of Parvo and Rabies vaccinations.
  • You do not need to bring proof with you; if an incident occurs, you must be able to produce proof in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Female dogs in heat are not permitted.
  • Dogs younger than six months of age are not permitted.
  • No animals other than dogs will be allowed at the event.
  • An adult must handle each dog.


By attending Barktoberfest 2024, you and your guests voluntarily assume any risks and agree not to hold The Utah Humane Society and its affiliates, employees, contractors, volunteers, or agents liable for any illness, injury, or death that may occur. We reserve the right to revoke admission to the event if you are unwilling to follow the rules.
